Evanston police say the driver of a car was injured by flying glass after another driver fired a shot into his vehicle at the intersection of Dodge Avenue and Howard Street late Thursday.
Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says the incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. He says responding officers found the victim, a 29-year-old Evanston man, bleeding from the face.
He told officers he was driving westbound on Howard and attempting to turn northbound onto Dodge when the driver of a silver vehicle pulled up and fired one shot at his car, shattering the window of the driver’s side door.
The victim was hit in the face by glass fragments and was transported to St. Francis Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Two male adult relatives of the victim who were in the car were not injured.
The suspect’s vehicle was last seen southbound on California Avenue from Howard.
Dugan says the suspect, who was alone in his car, is described as a black or Hispanic male wearing a black or red baseball hat. The vehicle is described as a silver 4-door with tinted windows and silver rims.
Detectives are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact the detective bureau at (847) 866-5040 or texting CRIMES (274637) and enter EPDTIP in the message line with the tip information.
