Here's a recap of our live coverage of tonight's Evanston City Council meeting.

The meeting called to order at 7:46 p.m.

Alderman Jane Grover, 7th Ward, is serving as mayor pro tem, or, as she said, "fake mayor." Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl is absent tonight, as are aldermen Judy Fiske and Brian Miller.

Public Comment

Junad Rizki says city process for selling public property appears to violate the Illinois Municipal Code, which, he says, requires either a public bidding process, listing with a real estate agent or a public auction.

Denise Stoneback praises city for developing additional gun range regulations that are up for approval tonight. Says could have additional restrictions as well.

Two other speakers also praise the gun range regulation ordinance.

Consent agenda

Off consent agenda:

  • A 17 – Parking violation penalties increase. Action rescheduled for meeting on 9/21.

Consent agenda approved unanimously.

Holmes says 5th Ward meeting Thursday will discuss city budget issues and police training.

Grover says 7th Ward meeting will be Thursday at the Evanston Art Center, 1717 Central St. 

Council votes to go into executive session. Public meeting ends at 8:15 p.m.
