Here's a recap of our live coverage of this evening's Evanston City Council Planning and Development Committee meeting.

Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m.

P 1 – Ecolocy Center classroom to be named "Elizabeth A. Patterson Classroom." Approved.

P 2 – Zoning relief for 2nd story addition and open parking at 2115 Dewey Ave. Approved.

P 3 – Zoning relief to convert 44 rooming house units into dwelling units at 860 Hinman. Approved. Related story.

P 4 – Text amendment to a rentals to the auto and recreational vehicle sales use.

Alderman Ann Rainey, 8nd Ward, said she opposes having truck rentals in the commercial districts, says OK with the in industrial districts. Says incompatible with commercial district uses.

Approved with that amendment.

Discussion

Fiske makes reference suggesting regulations for private dormitories not associated with an educational institution. Rainey objects to the term — says it's really "student housing" not a dorm. (Stay tuned for discussion at a future meeting of the committee.)
