Bridge Street is scheduled to be closed to all vehicular traffic on Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. so the contractor can pour concrete for the bridge deck.

The bridge has had one-way traffic for several months as the span has undergone reconstruction.

The pedestrian walkway will be open and available for use during all times throughout the construction process.

In the event of rain, construction work will be rescheduled for May 9, 10 or 12, when rain is not in the day’s forecast.

For more information, please contact the Thomas Carrato of contractor Alfred Benesch & Company at 312-565-0450.

  1. Why is the contractor allowed

Why is the contractor allowed to throw rubble AND trash (wooden pallets, etc.) into the canal from the construction site?  I've called the city and no response…. Go look over the bridge and see for yourself….  Shameful!  more inept Evanston….
