One of the traditional sensory experiences of a vacation in Michigan is about to be available right here in Evanston.

A Kilwins Chocolates franchise is scheduled to open later this year at 1724 Sherman Ave.

The sign’s up on the storefront window, but it doesn’t look like much buildout work has been done inside — so you shouldn’t start salivating about the fudge or caramel corn just yet.

Kilwins got its start in northern Michigan in 1947 and still makes many of its products in Petosky. It has grown to have more than 130 outlets in more than 20 states, mostly east of the Mississippi.
