Most City of Evanston offices and facilities will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10, for an unpaid furlough day established as part of a cost-saving plan approved by the Evanston City Council to help balance the Fiscal Year 2017 budget.
Civic Center city offices, except for those of building tenants, along with recreation centers, and all Evanston Public Library locations will be closed for standard programs and services.
The 311 service will be open, as well as the Robert Crown Center, Fleetwood-Jourdain Center and Mason Park preschool/daycare and after-school care.
Critical Police, Fire, and Water Plant operations will continue, but all non-essential employees will be on unpaid leave. Refuse and recycling pick-ups will occur as usual. Previously contracted room rentals in community centers will be honored.
Full-time and part-time employees who are not scheduled to work on Nov. 10 will have their hours reduced from their vacation bank. Employees who must work on Nov. 10 will have their hours reduced from their vacation bank or will choose another unpaid day off, depending on their contract.
Nov. 10 will not be a parking holiday, so parking fees must be paid.
