Evanston police investigating a shots fired call Sunday afternoon found a bullet hole in a building in the 1300 block of Foster Street.
Police say they also found a couple of witnesses nearby in the 2000 block of Wesley Avenue who heard multiple gunshots about 3:30 p.m. and said they’d seen a couple of people who may have been involved in the incident.
That gunfire, Cmdr. Jay Parrott says, followed another incident about 7:40 p.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of Dodge Avenue. In that case five to seven shots were heard and police also located two witnesses — one of whom said he’d been shot at, but not hit.
Parrott says police have descriptions of two different vehicles, one from each of the incidents, but they’re not releasing that information at this time as detectives continue their investigation.
He says there were three other reports of single gunshots being fired over the weekend in which police were unable to locate witnesses or any evidence to confirm the reports.
They happened after 10 p.m. on Friday in the 1400 block of Fowler Avenue, about 5:15 a.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of Cleveland Street, and at 3:30 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Brown Avenue and Emerson Street.
