Burglar removes AC unit to enter flat

A burglar gained access to an apartment in the 900 block of Gaffield Place by removing an air-conditioning unit from a window. This among the stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

Battery

328 Callan

Don E. Allen, 58, of 328 Callan Ave., was arrested at that address at 9:55 p.m. Thursday and charged with domestic battery. He is due in court on July 20 at 9:30 a.m.

7557 Ridge

Cornelius A. Jones, 29, was arrested at 7557 N. Ridge Ave., Chicago, at 8:27 p.m. Wednesday and charged with aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon.

Burglary

1900 Central

A burglar damaged locks in an attempt to enter a restaurant in the 1900 block of Central Street between 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. yesterday.

2200 Maple

An unlocked window provided access for a burglar between 2 a.m. and noon Saturday to an apartment in the 2200 block of Maple Avenue. Missing was a laptop computer, a briefcase, and cash.

900 Gaffield

A burglar removed an air-conditioning unit from a window to enter an apartment in the 900 block of Gaffield Place around 12:25 a.m. Saturday. Missing items included an Xbox gaming system, a backpack, and a pair of noise-cancelling head phones.

2200 Ridge

An apartment in the 2200 block of Ridge Avenue was entered between midnight and 10 a.m. Saturday by a burglar who took a Sony game console.

1700 Grey

A mountain bike was stolen from the unlocked garage of a home in the 1700 block of Grey Avenue between 2:35 p.m. and 6 p.m. yesterday.

Criminal Damage

2400 Howard

Scratches were sustained to a 2016 Mercedes-Benz automobile in a business parking lot in the 2400 block of Howard Street between 11 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. Friday,

600 Brummel

Tires were found slashed on a 2015 Ford in the 600 block of Brummel Street between 8 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. yesterday.

900 Pitner

Someone broke a window at a commercial establishment in the 900 block of Pitner Avenue between 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

2300 Greenleaf

A window was broken at a home in the 2300 block of Greenleaf Street around 11:19 p.m. Saturday.

2312 Greenleaf

Sharmin Brownlee, 45, of 1101 Davis St., was arrested at 2312 Greenleaf St. at 2:22 p.m. Saturday and charged with criminal damage to property. A court date has been set for July 20 at 9:30 a.m.

Custer at Brummel

Someone slashed the tires of a 2007 Toyota near Custer Avenue and Brummel Street between 8 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. yesterday.

300 Asbury

Gervase M. Pruett, 22, of 5737 N. Kenmore, Chicago, was arrested at 300 Asbury Ave. at 2:39 a.m. Friday and charged with criminal damage to property.

Criminal Trespass

1200 Asbury

Mario Donte Hatfield, 23, of 2110 Dewey Ave., and Devin Treshaun Wilson, 18, were arrested at 1200 Asbury Ave. at 12:10 a.m. Saturday and charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle. They are due in court on Aug. 3 at 9 a.m.

Drugs

1310 Lee

Nathaniel Godson-Amamoo Easington, 18, of 827 Greenleaf St., was arrested at 1310 Lee St. at 1:19 p.m. yesterday and charged with possession of cannabis. He is due in court on Aug. 17 at 9 a.m.

Other

2100 Church

Police checked out a report of a man seen with a gun in the 2100 block of Church Street at about 9:10 p.m. Friday, but they found no man with a gun.

1900 Jackson

Police checked out a report of a man seen with a gun in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, but they found no man with a gun.

1959 Howard

Terry J. Valrie, 21, of 2457 S. Talaneis Road, Sauk Village, was arrested at 1959 Howard St. at 4:35 p.m. Thursday and charged with obstructing justice.

Robbery

1500 Sherman

A robber showed a handgun and demanded money of his victim at a restaurant in the 1500 block of Sherman Avenue at about 10:10 p.m. yesterday.

Shots Heard

Judson at Dempster

Gunshots were reported near Judson Avenue and Dempster Street at 3:25 a.m. yesterday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

700 Clark

Gunshots were reported in the 700 block of Clark Street  at 4:23 p.m. Saturday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

700 Dobson

Gunshots were reported in the 700 block of Dobson Street at 11:37 p.m. yesterday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Theft

600 Chicago

Eight bottles of laundry detergent were taken from a drugstore in the 600 block of Chicago Avenue around 10 a.m. Saturday.

900 Church

A black two-piece swimsuit was taken from a business establishment in the 900 block of Church Street around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

100 Clyde

A catalytic converter was stolen from a 2008 Honda in a city parking lot in the 100 block of Clyde Avenue between 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 8:45 a.m. Friday.

Traffic

1020 Asbury

Leah Nicole Pearson, 33, of 1726 Monroe St., was arrested at 1020 Asbury Ave. at 7:20 a.m. Friday and charged with a traffic violation. She is due in court on Aug. 17 at 10:30 a.m.

1015 Howard

Erick A. Romero-Herrera, 22, of 1339 W. Pratt, Chicago, was arrested at 1015 Howard St. at 7:40 a.m. Friday and charged with a traffic violation. He is due in court on Sept. 6 at 1:30 p.m.
