A burglar was able to steal tools by entering an unlocked car and using its garage door opener to access the contents of the garage. This among stories in today’s daily crime report from Evanston police.
BURGLARY
2000 Orrington
A 38-year-old couple in the 2000 block of Orrington Avenue noticed late Sunday evening that their unlocked 2016 GMC Acadia had been ransacked. They also noticed that their garage door, usually closed, was in the open position. Upon further investigation, they discovered some tools were missing from their garage. Then they examined the results of their garage camera and saw that a burglar had entered their unlocked car and had used the garage door opener to access the garage where the tools were kept.

500 Custer
Someone forced entry to a 2010 Ford by breaking a window and stealing some cigarettes inside. The incident took place at about 9:20 a.m. Monday in the 500 block of Custer Avenue.

OTHER
1930 Jackson
Kenneth Ross. 41. address unknown, was arrested at 1930 Jackson Ave. at 12:30 a.m. Sunday and charged with unlawful use of a weapon and criminal damage to property.

THEFT
900 Davis
A wallet was stolen from an unlocked office in the 900 block of Davis Street around 11:15 a.m. Monday.
Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute an assumption of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Court in Skokie.
