Police are investigating thefts of miscellaneous items such as cash, jewelry, and sunglasses that were taken recently from five unlocked vehicles. These among stories in today’s crime bulletin from Evanston police.

BURGLARY

1100 Dewey

Cash was taken from an unlocked 2016 Chevrolet in the 1100 block of Dewey Avenue between 8 p.m. Saturday and 11:45 a.m. yesterday.

2000 Darrow

Jewelry was stolen from an unlocked 2014 BMW in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue between 10 a.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday.

Sunglasses and miscellaneous items were removed from an unlocked 2020 Hyundai in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue between 1:30 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. Friday.

Miscellaneous personal items were stolen from an unlocked 2017 Chrysler in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue around 11 a.m. Friday.

1700 Hovland

Cash was taken from an unlocked 2005 Mitsubishi in the 1700 block of Hovland Court between 6 p.m. Thursday and 8:15 a.m. Friday.

2100 Payne

A burglar gained entry to an unlocked home in the 2100 block of Payne Street between 3 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. today and stole a purse and its contents.

1900 Foster

Monique D. Cavallero, 52, of 2121 Dewey Ave., was arrested at 1900 Foster St. at 6:10 a.m. Friday and charged with burglary.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

1500 Sherman

Someone damaged items in a secured lobby of residences in the 1500 block of Sherman Avenue around 7:43 a.m. Saturday.

300 Callan

A brick was thrown through the window of a home in the 300 block of Callan Avenue at about 12:30 a.m. yesterday.

OTHER

355 Ridge

Travis Smith, 39, address unknown, was arrested at 355 Ridge Ave. at 5:39 p.m. Friday and charged as a criminal sex offender with a duty to register.

1811 Sheridan

Akele F. Spencer, 26, of 11820 S. Campbell Ave., Chicago, was arrested at 1811 Sheridan Road at 2:16 a.m. on Oct. 2 and charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

SHOTS HEARD

2100 Brummel

Gunshots were reported in the 2100 block of Brummel Street at 4:31 a.m. Saturday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Kirk at Dewey

Gunshots were reported near Kirk Street and Dewey Avenue at 3:34 a.m. today. Police checked the area but found nothing.

THEFT

2300 Howard

A computer was taken from a store in the 2300 block of Howard Street around 5:30 p.m. Friday.

600 Chicago

Make-up was stolen from Walgreens Pharmacy in the 600 block of Chicago Avenue at 8:04 p.m. Friday.

1900 Dempster

Alcoholic products were stolen from Valli Produce in the 1900 block of Dempster Street at 10:57 a.m. Friday.

1700 Sherman

An unattended cell phone was stolen from a restaurant in the 1700 block of Sherman Avenue at 1:55 p.m. Thursday.

2000 Maple

A parking sign was stolen from a parking lot in the 2000 block of Maple Avenue at about 10:53 a.m. Friday.

700 Hinman

A catalytic converter was removed from a 2003 Pontiac in the 700 block of Hinman Avenue between 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 1 and 6:30 a.m. Friday.

1000 Michigan

A catalytic converter was removed from a 2006 Honda in the 1000 block of Michigan Avenue between noon on Oct. 3 and 7 p.m. on Oct. 4.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute an assumption of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Court in Skokie.
