In one case, burglars damaged a window pane and in another, they defeated a deadbolt lock to enter apartments south of Main Street. But in neither case did they take anything. These were among stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

Burglary

1800 Madison

Burglars damaged a window pane to gain entrance to an apartment in the 1800 block of Madison Street around 9:45 p.m. yesterday. Nothing was reported taken.

100 Callan

Burglars defeated a deadbolt lock to enter an apartment in the 100 block of Callan Avenue between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. yesterday. Nothing was reported taken.

2800 Elgin

A bicycle was stolen from the garage of a home in the 2800 block of Elgin Road between noon on May 19 and 11 a.m. Monday. The door to the garage had been left open, police said.

Theft

1900 Howard

A package that had been delivered to an apartment common area in the 1900 block of Howard Street was stolen at about 10:23 a.m. yesterday.

2400 Main

A purse, left unattended at a store in the 2400 block of Main Street, was taken between 6:15 p.m. and 6:25 p.m. yesterday.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a find did they take anying of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.
