Evanston fire crews didn’t have far to go when a car struck the building housing the Reba Early Learning Center at 740 Custer Ave. just across Madison Street from Fire Station #2 about 7:30 this morning.

Firefighters found one person in the car who needed to be transported to St. Francis Hospital. There were no reports of any other injuries.

City building inspectors have been called in to check for damage to the building, but the car apparently didn’t actually penetrate the wall of the one-story structure.

Traffic has been blocked on Custer and on Madison near the accident scene.
