Evanston police and fire units are on the scene of a accident at Sheridan Road and Ingleside Place in northeast Evanston where a car has struck a tree and at least one occupant of the car reportedly is trapped inside the vehicle.

The accident reportedly happened just before 9:30 this morning and police are diverting traffic off Sheridan Road around the scene.

Update 9:45 a.m.: A fire department ambulance is transporting a patient from the accident scene to Evanston Hospital.

Update 10:08 a.m.: The car has been towed from the accident scene and police are reopening Sheridan Road to traffic.

    That car hit a tree because another car hit into the driver side door and pushed it off the road. The other car got a citation for not yielding at his stop sign on Ingleside.
