Evanston police say an SUV was involved in multiple collisions on Howard Street about 8:40 this morning.

Cmdr. Jay Parrott says it appears the driver of the Ford Explorer, a 57- or 58-year-old Chicago woman, may have suffered a diabetic condition that impaired her driving ability.

She first struck three parked cars in the 1200 block of Howard, and then, Parrott says, was involved in an accident on the Chicago side of the street at Howard and Western.

Her car finally stopped when it struck and uprooted a tree in the 2100 block of Howard between Grey and Hartrey avenues.

The driver has been transported to St. Francis Hospital for treatment.

Parrott says it appears no one else was injured in the incident.
