Rhetoric
As we’ve seen nationally and locally, regardless of party affiliation, cutting spending and reducing the size of the government is just talk. It all sounds great until they threaten to cut someone’s favorite program – and almost everyone seems to have a favorite program that they just can’t live without. Then some special interest or another brings out the FUD (Fear Uncertainty Doubt). Everyone gets their panties in a bunch and the scum, I mean politicians, back off. We’re a nation of dependents, government program addicts. Unfortunately there seems to be no viable rehab. It’s a shame. We will reap what we have sown.
