The Evanston Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has named Eve Doi as the chamber’s new executive director.

Doi joins the Evanston chamber from a position as vice president of operations and communications at the Ames Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development in Ames, Iowa,

Her first event with the chamber here will be at the chamber’s annual meeting on May 11.

Ames is a community of 56,000 residents and home to Iowa State University.

Doi is original from Highland Park. She graduated from Iowa State with a degree in journalism and mass communications in 1993.

Before joining the chamber there she ran her own advertising and public relations firm.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting the members and getting to know Evanston again. This is a dynamic city that offers so much to the business community and surrounding areas,” Doi said in a news release.

Doi succeeds Jonathan Perman, who was the Evanston chamber’s executive director for 19 years until this March.

The Evanston chamber is a non-profit business organization with more than 520 members.

Bill Smith is the editor and publisher of Evanston Now.

  1. Challenges for Eve

Looks like the Evanston Chamber made a good pick with Eve Doi.

She worked for the chamber in Ames, Iowa, one of the top 10 places to live. I hope she can bring the same results here to Evanston but she will have her work cut out in dealing with the seemingly anti-business actions of our City Council.

    Welcome to Evanston, Eve.
