Police say a 17-year-old Chicago youth has been charged in a shooting incident just before midnight Aug. 7 on Benson Street in downtown Evanston that left two other teens injured.

Police Commander Tom Guenther says Clifton Aaron Frye Jr. of 1426 W. Farwell faces felony charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Police say a 17-year-old Chicago youth has been charged in a shooting incident just before midnight Aug. 7 on Benson Street in downtown Evanston that left two other teens injured.

Police Commander Tom Guenther says Clifton Aaron Frye Jr. of 1426 W. Farwell faces felony charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

He’s scheduled to appear in district court in Skokie next Friday.

One of the victims suffered a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen, The other was shot in the collarbone and abdomen.

The incident reportedly grew out of a verbal confrontation between two groups of teens, at least some of whom had just left the nearby movie theater when the dispute broke out.
