Kenneth “Ken” Cherry has been named recreation center manager for Evanston’s Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center and the Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre.

Cherry joined the city’s Parks and Recreation staff in 1998 and has coordinated programs at Robert Crown Community Center and at Fleetwood-Jourdain,

Joe McRae, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department director, said, “Out of a candidate pool of over 100 very qualified candidates from across the country, Mr. Cherry emerged as the right person for the position. In addition to 18 years of practical experience with the department, Cherry has a genuine passion for the community. I believe will do an excellent job building upon the foundation that the recently retired Betsy Jenkins developed at Fleetwood.”
