A Chicago man has been charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old Evanston girl.

Evanston police say the girl returned home about 11:15 p.m. Friday and told her mother she’d been assaulted after hanging out with friends and consuming alcohol in the 1700 block of Brown Avenue.

The victim reportedly said Gerald McGregor, 20, of 7347 N. Hoyne Ave. in Chicago, persuaded her to get into his car, where he allegedly forced her to have sexual intercourse.

Police juvenile bureau investigators located the suspect at the scene and say they found a loaded handgun in the car, though the gun was not used in the assault.

McGregor now has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

He’s scheduled to appear in Skokie district court at 9 a.m. on March 2.
