Evanston police overnight arrested three teenage suspects who allegedly beat a newspaper delivery man with a baseball bat and stole his minivan on Chicago’s north side.

Police say the three 16-year-olds were spotted driving the stolen van in the 900 block of Chicago Ave. almost a day after the attack.

The robbery happend about 4:30 a.m. Monday at 3031 N. Damen Ave. in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood. Police believe another attack about the same time a few blocks away may have been the work of the same trio of 16-year-olds — two men and a woman.

Charges reportedly have not yet been filed against the suspects.

  1. Congratulations to the Evanston Police
Congratulations to the Evanston Police officers who, through good police work, spotted and recognized the vehicle and safely removed these vicious predators from our streets! Since they were cruising along Chicago Avenue, it seems likely that an Evanston resident was the next intended target of their baseball bat.

  2. Chicago robbery suspectd nabbed here
The modus operendi of the Lincoln Park area attackers–surprise from behind and beat about the head and face–seems to mirror many “youthful” attacks’ in Evanston. Could these be the same or related perpetrators branching out? Or have the 16 year olds arrested yesterday finally reached driving age and upped their techniques to include baseball bats. Or are these all just coincidental happenings? Just wondering..

  3. Congrats
Congratulations Evanston Police for your work.

However, let’s make the city more $$$$. Put a cop at Ingleside Place or my Alley on RIDGE across from Evanston Hospital. Drivers are flying 40+MPH in a 25MPH Zone.

Come on people – WAKE UP! Drivers are speeding in front of a Hospital when some of their visitors have real life and death mental anguish and are not paying attention while crossing the street.

Anyway most of these divers are from Wilmette/Winnetka – plus this will help us finance you pension too!

    Win Win Evanston.
