Evanston Police Chief Richard Eddington participated in the arrest Thursday of a man who’s now charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Eddington reportedly was driving in the area of Green Bay Road and Simpson Street about 1:30 in the afternoon when two women complained they’d been followed by a vehicle in the area.
Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott says Eddington spotted a car matching the description provided by the women in the 2100 block of Wesley Avenue and detained the driver and a passenger after seeing one of them throw a gun out of the car.
After other police units arrived on the scene, officers recovered the gun and charged Alexander Daniel, 31, of 10122 Holly Lane in Des Plaines, with the felony weapons violation.
He’s scheduled to appear in Skokie district court at 9 a.m. on July 8.
