Evanston residents will have an opportunity to choose the 30 best ideas for the city’s future on Oct. 15 and 16.

A series of voting sessions will be hosted by Evanston150, a community group developing strategies for celebrating the city’s 150th anniversary in 2013 with civic improvement projects.

The sessions will allow community members to vote on 100 ideas that were selected by a 21-person selection jury of community members from an initial pool of more than 2,000.

Four sessions will be held Saturday, Oct. 15:

  • 9:30 and 11 a.m. at the Century Cinema, 1715 Maple Ave., and
  • 2 and 3:30 p.m. at Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave., in Room N112 (use the Bacon entrance).

The final three sessions will be held Sunday, Oct, 16, at 1:00, 2:15, and 3:30 p.m. at Saint Francis Hospital, 355 Ridge Ave.

Community members who live, work or study in Evanston are invited to participate in one of the 45-minute voting sessions to rate their favorite ideas from a slide presentation using electronic keypads.

Seating is first come, first served.  Overflow attendees can vote in the next session or fill out a paper ballot.

Ballots translated into Spanish will be available at all voting locations.  Voters are encouraged to preview the 100 ideas after Oct. 3rd at at www.evanston150.org.

The Final 10 Announcement Event will take place Thursday, Nov. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Levy Senior Center, 300 Dodge Ave.

Join community members of all ages for the anticipated unveiling of the 10 ideas selected to celebrate Evanston’s 150th Anniversary in 2013.  Enjoy music, refreshments and the opportunity to get involved in community organizing efforts around the 10 projects.
