An Illinois Department of Transportation project to resurface portions of Church Street in Evanston and Skokie is getting underway this week.

The repaving work will run from Gross Point Road in Skokie to Dodge Avenue in Evanston. The project is expected to be completed by the end of September.

The project involves replacing curbs as needed, installing accessible ADA ramps at intersections, roadway base repair and replacement of asphalt surface from curb to curb along with the roadway striping.

The actual date when construction is planned on Church Street will be noted on the temporary “No Parking” signs posted 48 hours prior to the start of work. The construction activities are expected to create some inconvenience for residents along the street, but attempts will be made to minimize inconveniences.

Construction zone daytime “No Parking” restrictions will be intermittent through of the project; evening and nighttime parking from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. will always be available.

Builders Paving LLC, of 4413 Roosevelt Road in Hillside is the IDOT contractor on the project. The resident engineer is Anthony Lee who’s available to answer questions at 847-508-2573.

General questions about the project should be directed to Evanston’s senior project manager, Sat Nagar, at 847-448-4311.
