Evanston city officials are asking residents to voluntarily park their cars on the odd-numbered side of residential streets from now until 1 p.m. and then park on the even side until 7 p.m.
That shift is designed to help plows clear the the side streets after the two to three inch snowfall overnight.
Public Works Director Suzette Robinson says all main thoroughfares and secondary’s roads have been plowed and salted and all residential streets have been plowed down the centerline already.
News flash, City of Evanston
Many people take public transportation to their day-long jobs. So they are not home to move their cars at 1 p.m. on a Tuesday.
I have never heard of the City requesting a midday vehicle move. If I had known earlier, perhaps I could have done something to comply with the request.
