The City of Evanston’s annual firewood sale starts today at 2310 Oakton St., between the Recycling Center and the Animal Shelter.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays through the end of February, or until supplies are exhausted. Firewood will not be available on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Prices are the same as last year — $25 per 1/8 face cord; $40 per 1/4 face cord; $70 per 1/2 face cord or $125 per face cord.

Payment by personal check is preferred. Payment also can be made with cash; exact change is appreciated. Credit cards are not accepted, and delivery is not available. For more information, please call 847-866-2912.

Free woodchips are available at the base of the hill in James Park, accessible by the drive at 300 Dodge Ave. Residents are welcome to take as much of the woodchips as they like.
