Want to add your voice to the budget debate? The city is conducting an online poll asking residents to select their five favorites from among two dozen budget cutting ideas developed at Monday’s community budget workshop.

The poll options lack any detail about how much the choices would save, and they’re a mix of short-term and long-range ideas, but if you’ve been following the budget debate, you may have a rough idea of how much impact they might have in closing the city’s projected $8 million general fund deficit.

Voting ends at midnight on Sunday, Dec. 6. The results will be presented to the City Council for consideration as it reviews the budget.

The series of budget workshops will be rebroadcast this weekend on Comcast cable channel 16 in Evanston. The marathon broadcasts begin Friday at noon and end with a one-hour live call-in show on Sunday at 6 p.m. with City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz and Assistant City Manager Marty Lyons answering questions phoned in during the show to 847-869-0755.
