The City of Evanston Wednesday announced the names of two finalists to become Evanston’s next city manager.
They are Michael Jasso, who’s currently an assistant city manager in Sacramento, California, and Daniel Ramos, who’s deputy chief administrative officer for the City of Baltimore, Maryland.
The candidates will participate in a virtual town hall meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 9.
Residents can submit questions for the candidates in advance online.
Before taking his job in Sacramento, Jasso spent a decade with government agencies in Chicago, most recently as the head of the Bureau of Economic Development for Cook County.
He holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Princeton University.
Ramos has worked in Baltimore city government since 2013, moving through several positions to reach his current job.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from The Johns Hopkins University and is expected to receive an MBA from Johns Hopkins this spring.
This pool of finalists appears to be an upgrade in comparison to the last search.
