Evanston’s health department today reported — for the first time in two-and-a-half months — that there were no new COVID-19 cases in the city.
However, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported two new cases in the city. The city’s case count now stands at 728, while the state agency says there have been 730 cases here.
The city’s count of COVID-19 deaths among residents increased by one today, to 48.
Chicago reported 244 new cases today for a total of 46,977 and 38 more deaths for a total of 2,183.
Statewide there were 982 additional cases for a total of 123,830 and 96 more deaths for a total of 5,621.

The IDPH reported results of 24,471 additional tests for the disease today across the state with a 4.0% positive rate. The 7-day rolling average positive rate now stands at 6.1%
It reported 79 new tests in Evanston with a 2.5% positive rate.
