Help facilitate the recovery of your bicycles, should they be stolen, by registering them with the Evanston Police Department.

The EPD announces two special dates to register your bikes with police volunteers: 7 a.m. till noon Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Downtown Farmers’ Market, at the intersection of University Place and Oak Avenue; and from 9 a.m. till noon on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Bent Park, Central Street and Cowper Avenue. The cost is 50 cents per bike.

Otherwise, simply visit police headquarters at 1454 Elmwood Ave. anytime, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and bring the bicycles to be registered. For 50icents per bike, police service desk officers will enter the bicycles’ serial numbers into the EPD database.

Children ages 13 and under should be accompanied by their parents when registering bicycles.
