The City of Evanston’s Citizen Engagement Division will host a free “boot camp” for Evanston-based non-profit organizations Feb. 21.
The session designed to help the groups successfully employ social media tools to better get their messages out. The workshop will cover Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and social media management tools.
The workshop will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21, in the fourth floor Parasol Room of the Civic Center, at 2100 Ridge Ave.

City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz says the idea for the workshop grew out of a quarterly meeting he has with leaders of non-profit arts groups in the city.
The city is also seeking social media interns that will be paired with Evanston non-profits.
The volunteers will work with agencies to help them navigate the world of new media and assist with networking tools such as Facebook and Twitter. Volunteers will be expected to commit to assisting an agency for a minimum of three months for 2-5 hours a week.
