The City of Evanston is asking residents to voluntarily abide by alternate side parking restrictions today to help crews with snow removal efforts.

Since today, Feb. 4, is an even-numbered date, that means people should park only on the odd-numbered side of residential streets.

Evanston has received about 2.5 inches of snow so far, with flurries expected to continue into the afternoon. City crews will be clearing streets into the evening.

Streets and Sanitation Superintendent James Maiworm says crews — with 18 large and small plow trucks on the roads — are currently re-clearing main roads and then will move on to residential streets later this morning.
