City officials recognized police dispatchers and other city employees Monday for their swift actions during a boating mishap in June.

The city awarded dispatchers Lynn Fishman, Richard Clucas and Jessy Ramsay with certificates of recognition for working, as their supervisor described, “like a well-oiled machine” during the incident, in which three boaters were stranded in the water more than a mile and a half offshore.

It awarded Mark Stansfield, Alex Lajoie, Tim Silkaitis, Amanda Brady and Michael Majeski of the Rescue Department for finding the victims and removing them from the water.

During Monday’s City Council meeting the city also recognized the Fire Department shift that was on duty at the time of the incident.

Fire Shift Chief Jeffrey McDermott received recognition behalf of his team.

“All three boaters in the water were saved due to your quick action,” Fire Chief Alan Berkowsky said.
