Evanston’s Christmas tree recycling program is underway again this year. City crews are collecting trees from parkways from now through Jan. 28.

Trees need to be placed on the parkway — the grassy areas between the sidewalk and curb — for pickup. They will not be picked up from alleys or private property.

Trees will be picked up on the same day of the week as normal refuse and recycling collections.

Residents are asked to remove all lights and decorations and to not place the trees in plastic bags, as this material can damage the equipment used to convert the trees into mulch.
