The City of Evanston has released information about the availability of city facilities and services during the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend.

Refuse Collection
No collections will occur on Monday, Sept. 4. All trash, recycling, and yard waste collections will occur one day later in the week than usual. Thursday recycling collections and Friday condo recycling collections will occur on Friday, Sept. 8.

The Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center will be closed Sept. 2-4. All Evanston Public Library locations will be closed on Sept. 3 and 4.

The Chandler-Newberger Center and Ecology Center will be closed Sept. 2-4. The Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center will be closed Sept. 3 and 4. The Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, Noyes Cultural Arts Center, Levy Senior Center, and Robert Crown Center will be closed Sept. 4.

All five Evanston public swimming beaches will be open Sept. 2-4 from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Evanston 311 Center will be closed Sept. 2-4, and will reopen at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Evanston 311 is available online 24/7 at or by using the “Evanston 311” mobile app.

No street cleaning will occur on Sept. 4; street cleaning parking restrictions will not be in effect.

Parking meters and downtown parking garages will be free on Sept. 4. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored.
