Evanston officials say trash collection delays are expected all this week because of the heavy snowfall, so there’s no need to call the city to report a missed pickup.

Groot, the city’s trash collection contractor, resumed service today and is now focusing on areas missed on Tuesday. Collections will continue throughout the remainder of the week until all collections have been made.

The city’s recycling crews have been redeployed through today to help with snow clearing operations. Recycling collections will resume on Thursday, beginning with areas that were missed on Monday due to weather conditions.

The Public Works Agency is asking residents to place trash and recycling containers in their normal collection area on their regular collection day. If a collection was missed earlier this week, leave the containers in their normal collection area until crews are able to empty them.

The city is also asking residents to clear snow on and around trash and recycling containers so that crews can reach them.
