Voluntary snow parking restrictions will be in effect through Thursday in Evanston — with six inches of snow fallen so far and up to two more inches expected overnight.

To help city snow plow crews clear the streets, city officials are asking residents to avoid parking on main thoroughfares designated as Snow Routes overnight tonight, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

And to help clear residential streets, residents are asked to follow the even/odd daytime parking restrictions on Wednesday and Thursday. Those rules apply to streets with parking on both sides that are not posted as Snow Routes.

Avoid parking on sides of the street with odd-numbered addresses on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Avoid parking on sides of the street with even-numbered addresses Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Free parking continues to be available at the three city-owned downtown parking garages from now through midnight Thursday evening. Parking meters, pay stations and mobile pay zones continue to be enforced.
