The City of Evanston is sponsoring two workshops this month for condominium owners and board members.

The workshops, presented in partnership with Lakeside Community Development Corporation, will educate participants about board responsibilities, effective communications, and dealing with foreclosures or non-payment of assessments.

A workshop on Collections, Liens and Foreclosures will be offered on Thursday, May 14, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Levy Center. Geared toward board members, the workshop will provide information on how to protect the associations’ interest during a foreclosure, the process of filing a collections action, and how to avoid forcing unit owners into foreclosure through collections activity.

A general workshop on Condo Association and Board Training will be offered Monday, May 18 at the Evanston Public Library from 6 to 9 p.m. This will cover the condo declaration, by-laws, board responsibilities, effective meetings, budgeting, and dispute resolution. It is appropriate for board members as well as unit owners.

Registration is required as space is limited. A fee of $15 per association will be charged at the door but more than one person per association may attend. Interested condo owners should call the Planning Division at 847-866-2928 to register.
