Evanston aldermen this week approved a plan to add requests for donations to city programs to city utility bills and vehicle registration forms.

As approved by the City Council the solicitations would appear on water bills in March and July and on the vehicle registration form in November

Each bill will contain one pitch — in March for the Mayor’s Summer Youth Employoment Program, in July for Evanston Trees and in November for the Police and Fire Foundation.

The requests will appear on paper bills and residents who pay online will be sent an email with a link to the donation form.
