A city-owned Ford Escape van flipped over about 11:30 a.m. Monday after it collided with another car at the intersection of Simpson Street and Green Bay Road.

Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott says the van was heading westbound on Simpson, and collided with the car, a 1994 Lincoln, just after emerging from the railroad viaduct immediately east of the intersection.

Parrott says no citations were issued to either driver because there were no independent witnesses to the accident.

The city employee driving the van was taken to a local hospital for observation but then released.

The driver and passenger in the car, Parrott said, were not injured.
