Live music is back in Evanston and FilAm Music Foundation NFP, a nonprofit based in Evanston whose mission is to promote classical musicians of Filipino-American background through performance and scholarship, is helping usher it in with the Summer Edition of the Evanston Chamber Music Society Concert Series at Evanston History Center’s Charles Gates Dawes House.
The series opened with a spectacular performance of Hummel’s Piano Quintet, and Schubert’s ever popular Trout Quintet on June 26. The concert featured distinguished members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Artistic Director and Steinway Artist Victor Santiago Asunción.
There are two remaining concert dates:
- On July 24, Sublime Piano Trios by Beethoven and Brahms featuring acclaimed Lyric Opera Orchestra Violinist John MacFarlane and Chicago Symphony Orchestra Cellist Karen Basrak.
- On Aug. 29, Opera Arias, Lieder, and Kundiman featuring Filipino American Singers Nicole Besa, soprano who is a national YoungARTS Foundation alumni and who has also sung with the Lyric Opera; Curtis Institute graduate and Rosa Ponselle First Prize Winner Margarita Giannelli, soprano; and tenor Jared Esguerra who has appeared at Sarasota Opera, and Brevard Music Center, as well as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra<./li>
