The former co-working space at 818 Lake St. has been purchased by Evanston-based Zen Shiatsu Chicago to become its new clinic, school and event space.
The property had been home to Allegretti Rug Masters for decades and underwent a full-scale rehab for conversion to the co-working space in 2018.
Zen Shiatsu has been located for more than 30 years in Evanston and currently operates from 825 Chicago Ave.
Zem Shiatsu was represented in the purchase by InSite Commercial Realty.
Insite Managing Broker Ross Goldstein said in a news release, “We were negotiating a lease on a nearby space when the opportunity to purchase this property off-market became available. Creating a stand-alone center provides an ideal solution to our client’s real estate challenge and represents a significant step forward in ensuring the center’s continued success for the next generation.”
The center’s director, Steve Rogne, says the new space “will be perfect for our needs.”
“It is spacious and easy to keep sanitary. It is on the ground floor so our work can be accessible to clients who can’t climb the stairs. With room for more classrooms, we can offer evening wellness classes to our clients and full-time training schedules so that our career students can have access to federal loan and grant programs.”
The school offers a complete Shiatsu certification program qualifying graduates for the credentials required for legal practice, as well as continuing education for massage therapy and other professions.
