Two bottles of cognac and a carton of cigarettes have disappeared off the shelves of Evanston retailers in apparent shopliftings. Those stories in today’s daily crime bulletin from Evanston police.

Surveillance video at Sam’s Club, 2400 Main St., showed someone taking a carton of cigarettes off the shelves and exiting without paying for them at 11:47 a.m. yesterday.

Two bottles of cognac were taken from the Jewel food store on Howard Street before dawn today. A short time later, officers arrested Kimberly R. Eikner, 36, of 4250 N. Marine Drive, Chicago, when they found the missing bottles in her car, at 3301 Howard St. in Skokie, according to Cmdr. Joseph Dugan.

Eikner was charged with retail theft and is due in Circuit Court in Skokie on Oct. 19 at 9 a.m.
