If you don’t have enough room for a garden this summer, the Evanston Ecology Center has the answer. The Center maintains four community gardens with plots available for rent.

Useful for growing flowers, herbs or fresh vegetables, the four community garden locations are:

  • James Park Gardens, south of Oakton between McCormick Blvd. and Dodge
    Ave.;

  • Twiggs Canal Gardens, near the intersection of Bridge and Simpson
    Streets;

  • McCormick Gardens, at McCormick Blvd. and Bridge St.; and
  • Lighthouse Gardens, just off Sheridan Road north of the Grosse Point
    Lighthouse.

A full plot of about 400 square feet rents for $55 for the season. A half-plot rents for $27.50.

For those who prefer a smaller garden, raised beds are available for $15 each at James Park. Twiggs Gardens offers raised beds that are wheelchair accessible for $27.50 each.
