Construction to impact traffic on Chicago and Main

Utility work for the new high-rise development at 835 Chicago Ave. in Evanston will lead to traffic congestion on Chicago Avenue and Main Street over the next three weeks.

Power Construction will be installing water and sanitary sewer connections for the new nine-story building in Chicago Avenue and storm sewer connections in Main Street.

The work is scheduled to start on Monday, Jan. 4, and run through Friday, Jan. 22.

Construction hours will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, except for Wednesday, Jan. 6 when the work will run from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Traffic on Chicago Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction with parking restrictions and lane shifts. On Main Street only one two-way traffic lane will be open, with flaggers at each end of the construction zone to direct traffic.
