Evanston police say officers checking a report of an attempted home break-in before dawn this morning in the 1100 block of Austin Street found a man walking out of a nearby garage with a bag containing items that it turned out had taken from cars parked inside.

Police Cmdr. Joseph Dugan says the two cars parked in the garage appeared to have been ransacked and the man the officers stopped, Jehad S. Sanduka, 24, lives at 8934 Lyons in Des Plaines.  The owner of the cars later identified the item in Sanduka’s bag as having been stolen from the cars.

Sanduka now has been charged with two felony counts of burglary to motor vehicle
