Burglary

1800 Asbury

Gift certificates were stolen from an unlocked 2008 Land Rover in the driveway of a home in the 1800 block of Asbury Avenue between 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8:20 a.m. yesterday.

Drugs

3361 Dempster

Jasen C. McClure, 20, of 812 Dodge Ave., was arrested at 3361 Dempster St. at 11:16 p.m. yesterday and charged with possession of cannabis. He is due in court on April 21 at 10:30 a.m.

Shots Heard

Custer at Madison

Gunshots were reported in the vicinity of Custer Avenue and Madison Street at 9:39 p.m. yesterday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Greenleaf at Pitner

Gunshots were reported in the vicinity of Greenleaf Street and Pitner Avenue at 2:04 p.m. yesterday. Police checked the area but found nothing.

Incidents listed appear among the official reports of the Evanston Police Department. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt, which can only be determined by a court of law. Court appearances take place in Cook County 2nd District Circuit Court in Skokie.

      Hi P.V.,

      Whether there’s an arrest (and a trip to Skokie court) now depends on the amount of pot and whether there were additional violations.

      Simple possession of under 10 grams gets a citation that’s handled in the administrative adjudication process at the Evanston Civic Center.
