Evanston police say they’ve arrested a Chicago man who flashed a gun at another man during a traffic dispute. Police Cmdr. Ryan Glew says the incident happened about 3:20 p.m. Sunday in the 2200 block of Howard Street.

Officers responding to a report of an aggravated assault were told by the victim that a man had pointed a gun at him during a traffic dispute and provided a description of the driver and his vehicle, a blue Chevy Impala.

Glew says police spotted the car in the 1500 block of Darrow Avenue and located the driver, Gregory Reese, who the victim, in a show-up, identified as the man who’d threatened him.

Officers also found Reese’s six-year-old son in the car and recovered a Smith and Wesson M&P 9MM.

Reese was arrested and transported to the station for further investigation. The juvenile was turned over to a family member.

Glew says Reese admitted to being in a traffic altercation with the victim but did not admit to pointing the gun at him.

Reese did have a firearm owners identification card and a concealed carry license at the time of the incident.

Reese, 32, of the 1800 block of Lunt Avenue in Chicago, now faces a felony charge of aggravated use of a weapon, a misdemeanor count of aggravated assault and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the life of a child.
