Evanston police say members of the department’s special operations group executed a search warrant for drugs in Skokie this morning that also turned up a firearm.

The search was conducted just after 6 a.m. at 4915 Hull St. Cmdr. Jay Parrott says officers recovered just under 50 grams of cannabis along with a Intratec TEC-22 firearm with extended magazines.

Officers arrested Devon Matthews, 20, at the scene and charged him with felony and and misdemeanor drug and gun law violations.

He’s scheduled to appear in Skokie district court at 9 a.m. on Sept. 11.
