A report of suspicious items in a recycling container yielded a 100-pound haul of marijuana by Evanston police.

The call came in on Saturday afternoon. As a result, police located and recovered nine packaged blocks of marijuana with a street value in excess of $100,000.

Police are now investigating the source and anticipated destination of the contraband, according to Cmdr. Jay Parrott.
