Several Evanston police officer spent their morning today standing on top of the Dunkin Donuts at the Dempster Plaza shopping center in a fundraiser for Special Olympics.

The 9th annual “Rooftop Stakeout” is one of at least three events the department holds for Special Olympics each year, along with a polar plunge and a torch run.

Today’s event was designed to attract some attention and encourage passersby to stop in an make a donation to Special Olympics, which also gave the donors a coupon for a free donut at the shop.
